Race photo body spasms

The photos from last weekend's CARA Lakefront 10-Miler are up.  Check out this action shot of Erin and me:

Erin looks all smooth and calm and happy.  And me?  I am generally a very enthusiastic person, yes.  But here I think my body is just spasming.

Actually, the race photo body-spasm seems to be a recurring trend for me:

Kim and I at the Chicago Half Marathon

Me at the PNC YMCA Turkey Trot

Wow.  Just wow.

New immediate goal for 2013: Practice striking different (and nonspasmatic) poses for race photographers.  (This might be my biggest running challenge yet.)

    1. Thanks, Xaar. Maybe when we get to run a race together we can do a jointly spastastic pose for the cameras!?!?!?? =D

  2. I'm with Xaarlin - MORE SPASMS!! LOVE!!

Off topic - Drew LeBlanc is the son of my high school's hockey coach (well, while I was in high school...not sure if he's still there). You are the only person I can think of who will think that's as cool as I do :)

OMG - two degrees of separation between you and Drew LeBlanc!?!?!?!? THAT IS AWESOME!!!!! One day Drew LeBlanc will be a raging Hawks phenom and you'll have a personal connection to him!!! =D

    1. Thanks, Kim! You were the inspiration for the first-ever race photo body-spasm so you are where it all started. =D

  4. These are great! If I can get a photographer to take my picture at either of my races this weekend (this was a problem at the Shamrock Shuffle - my friend and I ran by and they all just stared at us while not taking pictures!), I'll do a body spasm tribute photo :)

    1. Thanks, Anne! The Shamrock Shuffle photographers must have been so mesmerized by your running form that they forgot to take pictures! It sounds like your marathon relay went awesome this weekend and I look forward to seeing future body spasm tributes! (You make me feel so special! =D) )

    1. Thanks SRD! Superstar from SNL, eh? I'm actually not familiar with that so I'll have to go onto Youtube and look it up now. Inspirations!!! =D

    1. Thanks, Amanda!!! Much appreciate the positive feedback! Btw - I am still thinking of that gorgeous sparkle headband you were wearing at the Roadrunner Sports party - I think those sparkles would do wonders in keeping all of us happy all the time. =)

  8. I adore your race pictures! They capture the joy of running! Plus, I love silly ones more than serious runner ones for me. I have a lot of "I'm running" running pictures, ya know? The spirited ones are special. I say, keep being spasmodic!

    1. Thanks, Amy!!! It is definitely nice to let the guard down with running and just have fun with it, instead of worrying about pacing and splits and other numbers (which I do all too often). I love the mantra "keep being spasmodic" - I think I am going to start saying that to myself now during those tough miles. =)

  10. Hahahah, I'm glad the official photographer got a photo of that since Jason failed at capturing your spectacle :-) Not sure how he missed it :-)

I've taken to acting a fool in front of the race camera, too. Gets me all pumped up!

    1. LOL, it's probably actually a good thing that Jason didn't get the body spasm on camera. One photographer's evidence is plenty, let alone more than one. =D

Hey, you gotta have fun with these races, right? And fun translates to any aspect of racing - ESPECIALLY the photos!!
